ABOUT PRC & ASII:
The Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans (PRC) was founded in 1974 as a membership organization to promote the preservation, restoration and revitalization of New Orleans' historic architecture and neighborhoods. The not-for-profit organization has helped renovate hundreds of historic homes citywide by involving citizens in preservation projects and services that enhance living in New Orleans. PRC provides resources and education to convey the economic, cultural and aesthetic importance of historic preservation in New Orleans and throughout the world. For more information about the PRC's hurricane recovery efforts, including the homeowner assistance program, visit www.prcno.org or call 504.581.7032.
A Shared Initiative, Inc. Nonprofit (ASII) was created by ASI Federal Credit Union (ASIFCU) following Hurricane Katrina as the community development arm of the credit union. The mission of ASII is to provide affordable homeownership opportunities and expand access to vital community services. ASII is focused on increasing access to financial education and resources for individuals, families, small businesses, and other non-profits throughout New Orleans and southeast Louisiana.
ASII is currently housed in the St. Claude community, which is in the Upper Ninth Ward of New Orleans, in a building named for Clifford N. Rosenthal, CEO of the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions and a pioneer in the credit union industry. The two-story building owned by ASII leases out office space to other nonprofits at below-market rates, and serves as a community resource hub for local non-profits and neighborhood groups. The community resource center also houses many of the ASII staff members as well as its programs and services.
